Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day 18th March 2016
March 18th is National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day. We are taking part to help raise awareness of child sexual exploitation, and encouraging everyone to Think, spot and speak out against abuse.
Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) is a type of sexual abuse in which children are sexually exploited for money, power or status. Children may be deceived into thinking or believing that they are in a loving, consensual relationship. Children may be groomed online, invited to parties and given drugs and alcohol and some are even trafficked into the country or within the UK for the purpose of sexual exploitation. Children often trust their abusers and don’t understand what is happening to them is abuse
Many children are at risk of CSE and it is still going undetected. Many vulnerable children feel scared to speak out about what is happening to them and may even be threatened with violence if they do.
